Missing teeth are a big issue for everyone. Missing front teeth cause aesthetic problems. Missing back teeth make chewing difficult. These in the long run cause digestive issues. Hence, replacing missing teeth soon as they are lost is the best option.
Previously, the only option available for replacing missing teeth was fabrication of removable teeth. Slowly fixed bridges came into picture. However, the need to take support from 2 adjacent teeth compromised 2 healthy teeth unnecessarily. With advances in bio sciences, there came Dental Implants. These are nothing but titanium screws that are fixed in the jaw bones that replicate the tooth roots. Titatnium is a biocompatible material, which means it does not produce any harm to the living tissues. Once inside the jaw, they become fixed within the jaw bone. Usually, 3 to 6 months after placement of dental implants, a tooth is placed over the implant. In this gap of time, the implant gets fixed within the bone and its strength increases with time.
Single or multiple teeth, or even completely edentulous patients can be treated with dental implants.
